If you’re a fan of Get Out (2017) then you really should check out Get In (2019).

Directed by Olivier Abbou, this horror thriller revolves around an interracial couple that’s also caught in a racially charged nightmare.

What separates the two movies is the fact that Get In is based on a true story, making it more compelling.

According to the story, Paul Diallo (Adama Niane) is a happy-go-lucky, black guy, living a fully assimilated life along side his white wife, Chloe (Stephanie Caillard), and their biracial son, Louie (Matthew Kacou).

That is, until they return from vacation and discover their nanny turned housesitter has claimed squatter’s rights to their home.

To make matters worse, all of Paul’s legal documents are inside the property he’s banned from entering.

Paul receives no help from the court system, enduring delays and demands of proof that eventually catch the attention of the media, thus dividing the town as to who is the rightful owner.

What happens next is a case study into madness as this model citizen and respected teacher unravels, turning into the cocky black athlete he openly taunts but secretly wishes he could emulate.

Tired of being cast as a coward and losing the respect of his wife, Paul spirals out of control, morphing into the violent stereotype he’s tried to avoid.

He finally gets the intestinal fortitude to regain the keys to his kingdom, bursting onto the premises in a brutal battle where lives are lost and no one walks away a clear winner.

Streaming on Netflix, it’s an engaging film that blurs the lines between fantasy and reality, thumping out a pulse to match Paul’s seething pain.
