I was shocked to stumble upon a post written by Barack!

Wait … WHAT! The president formerly known as Barack Obama is a member of Medium?

Are you kidding me? Is this for real?

This is probably old news to veteran users, but for a newbie like me … BOOM! Mind blown. This made my day, month, year. All that.

I love this guy like a distant relative you never met but the kinship bonds you share are undeniable, keeping you connected.

My favorite memory of him dates back to his first election bid, during a campaign rally in Tampa.

As a mother of an African American son, I made sure my child was right there with me, front and center, bearing witness to history.

Talk about an example of black manhood. He demonstrated to my boy what that looked like, acted like and someone he should strive to be like.

A role model doubling as a President to a sometimes ungrateful nation. That’s a heavy crown — but he wore it well, tilting it to the side as he glided into greatness.

Sorry for this fan girl moment, but I had to get it out of my system. That post made me beam with pride.

Plus, it made me think about Sterling A. Brown’s poem, Strong Men.

Barack epitomizes those words, creating a blueprint for the next generation of black men, who keep coming and coming.
