Skeletons

Halloween seems to be the only time these bag of bones get picked.

It’s time to let the skeletons out of the closet.

I’m not talking about a seasonal appearance in October where they get to hang from trees or are showcased as some other scary Halloween yard ornament.

Although these neglected ghouls of horror rank at the bottom of the tombstone, they deserve a staring role in a scary movie.

Don’t ‘cha think? I mean, c’mon, they are scary — sorta … kinda … maybe, in the right light they could give us a fright.

Unfortunately, skull and cross bones are every where.

So much so, we’re now desensitized to these walking dead bodies that are literally wasting away in Hollywood.

Name the last time you’ve seen a horror film featuring skeletons as the main stalking terror as opposed to being a prop for a cheap thrill?

I can’t think of any — although it’s a concept worth fleshing out.

But, for now, it seems like their reign of terror begins and ends with Halloween, a time when those old dusty bones are shown some respect as they rattle trick or treaters crossing their paths.
